Gravestone of a slave called Myrtilla in the graveyard of St Lawrence's Church, Oxhill Warwickshire. Myrtilla belonged to Thomas Beauchamp of Nevis and died in 1705.

A house near Sunderland Point, Lancashire. A negro slave called Sambo, who is buried nearby, is said to have died here in 1736. Very little is known about Sambo's life.

Image of a Slave ship?

This piece of embroidery shows 2 scenes. One shows what could be a slave ship. The other is the inside a house or possibly a church. It is in the style of a sampler. Samplers were usually worked by girls learning to sew. They sometimes included letters of the alphabet but could also show events and scenes from a person's life. The story behind this embroidery is a mystery.

HMS Buzzard in the Thames. The ship was launched in 1849 and for a time was on duty off the coast of America enforcing anti-slavery laws.
