This building was originally an iron foundry and dates from the late 18th or early 19th century. The building looks a bit like a chapel with ' gothic ' detail. It used to supply mining machinery to the area. Joseph Pirt & Co Engineering Works occupied the building in the 1980s. Read official list description. Find out more about forges and other metal working industries in our Teachers' Kit - Forges and Foundries.
